Futures Forum Program
How was Futures Forum a poor/good fit for my learning style and strengths? I would say this course was a great fit for my learning style and strengths! FFP has taught me to become more stronger in self-motivation, collaborative, independent and multitasking skills. Instead of just sticking with one artifact, I was offered a variety of ways to present my artifacts; giving me many choices to choose from such as PowerPoint essays, videos, poems, etc. That is one major characteristic I liked about Futures Forum. This program has helped me improve my writing, reading and communication skills into being more successful with trying to express my opinions. Also, this course has made me become an effective thinker and communicator when faced with challenges. How FFP differs from a normal class is the fact that we use electronics most of the days to write blogs, or use Google doc. to work together on essays and use social media such as twitter to communicate what we have learned. In addition to that, we get the chance to interact with other students who are also in the course that we have never met before. A major thing that FFP differs from a normal English class is this program is more project-based. Students rarely have to write tests or exams because we believe they do not prove what we have learned throughout the course, and it's not a good evaluation method. The Futures Forum Program is an inquiry based project oriented in the learning of grade 10 academic English, civics, and careers. Futures Forum has increased my engagement in learning (i.e., more choice, opportunities for inquiry, topics of interest to students, etc.) There are tons of more activities than the normal boring classes, which makes FFP so much more amusing. I am more engaged online now. I started using twitter and writing plenty of more blogs because of taking this course. I gained and learned a lot from taking Futures Forum - it has opened a new door to my future. Not only has Mrs.Wood taught me about traditional English, but life lessons as well!
